If you are not using the opt-in features, only links shorter in length than a t.co URL will be wrapped by t.co.I'm not sure whether it's a typo or a deliberate feature, but in either way that's how #Twitter (or as Elon prefers, #X), became what it is today.

I don't see the point of #twitter giving the option to view people's country of residence, as far as i've seen it is only being used to be racist or doxxing people and if I was a bad actor and I want to take advantage of twitter I could only use a VPN or other methods to bypass that system... Besides, I think there was a closed program on Twitter which was available to journalists, and it let you view information of Twitter accounts including geographical information but the new owner that bought twitter decided to close it to "Protect free speech"... 😑
