The US threatens to ban #tiktok because they could, as a company based in China, be forced to reveal data about users in the US.
Rather than us banning it under #biden, #trump enters the picture and ByteDance is directed to divest their holdings in TikTok to #microsoft.
So now we have #microsoft in talks to buy an app that is as much spyware as any other social media app made in the US.
They're saying that US laws take precedence over the #DataSovereignty of other countries, specifically in reference to this violating both #Canada and #EuropeanUnion data privacy laws.
That just sounds to me like the current fascist regime in the US wants a super easy way to spy on their own people and they're getting a way to spy on the rest of the world too unless I'm missing the point.
I *really* hope the rest of the world shuts this shit down and kicks Microsoft to the curb.
I'm not excited about watching the market tank, and my ability to retire on those savings go up in smoke, but money is the only thing this Kakistocracy cares about and it's the quickest way to get these schmucks to turn on Dampnut.
