Been trying to figure out what these guys are "buying" with this #TikTok deal, and it seems like they're not actually buying anything.
"Oracle will license and oversee the algorithm's retraining on US-only data, stored on American servers... China classifies the algorithm as export-controlled technology, blocking outright sale but allowing licensing..."
So, it seems TikTok will license the algorithm to a new US entity, TikTok US, to be used only on US users. That's it.
