very curious timing from Durov on posting this - if, as he says, he was approached about a year ago. and coincidentially, currently there are elections in Moldova that will determine the future of the country
almost as if he's deliberately trying to undermine the election process... I wonder who might be interested in this, huh...

@pee As I said, #XMPP has better foundations than the others - one of the biggest factors being that it is not centralized like #Signal, #Threema, or #Telegram.
The clients and UX need to be improved. But that doesn’t mean I’m not able to use it with my friends, family, and communities today.
Instead of taking the lazy route of switching to centralized ~services~ traps, projects like #Quicksy, #Prāv, #Snikket, #Cheogram, #MonoclesChat and others are actually improving things. As are all the end-users donating to them.
Also, I have no idea what “inline” stuff you’re talking about, nor have I ever (in almost 10 years of using XMPP) ever gotten a question about TLS versions. Chances are, you’re using some ancient and unmaintained clients and servers.
