The mess that is the search bar... in iOS 26.4 there's now these combinations. Honestly, it was more consistent in iOS 18 where it was *always* at the top.

- Separate search tab
- Merged search tab (new in 26.4, App Store)
- Bottom search field
- Top search field
- Top search button to bring up a top search field (Calendar)
- Top search button to bring up a bottom search field (Safari Tabs UI)

There is some magic involved in calculating the background color but I wonder if I should apply (or abuse) it more.

Looks like iOS 26.4 now blurs the selected tab capsule? I could swear it was just translucent before? #UIKit #SwiftUI

Hmm, is it by design nothing can be animated inside #SwiftUI s new .tabViewBottomBar()? šŸ¤”

This view both has a springy scale effect animation and a numeric content transition, but none of them work.

As I ditched Apple Photos, I’m cooking up a Photo Catalog macOS App: git.luedicke.cloud/jens/photo-

It is currently somewhat usable for filtering/reviewing/trashing image files. Supports XMP sidecars and caches generated thumbnails and previews.

It has no editing features, and no cloud storage support either.

I'm making a seasonal anime guide app, in the open for all to experience and learn from.

Still sick and miserable, but let's try and get a test written šŸ˜…

First blog post in a very long time, please be gentle. I’ve been playing around with the new agentic coding in Xcode. I’ve used the ChatGPT and Claude apps but this is my first steps into the agentic waters. I can definitely feel the hype, and there’s some genuinely mind blowing moments, but I think I’ll still be coding by hand for a while. šŸ¦•

A pseudo-shooting gallery to refine interop between the ECS system and SwiftUI views.

The various zones are defined within SwiftUI but rendered by the ECS (except for the scoreboard text). Each zone has its own ECS world.

(The shooting gallery pays homage to Duane Blehm's early Mac game, Cairo Shootout!, which itself paid homage to Susan Kare's Cairo font. Three of the entities—key, anchor, moon—are modeled after Cairo characters.)

And here's my inspiration I got from iTunes -- the light gray bar across the bottom of the window with the popup buttons.
