Während professionelle Prüfer in der EU 35 Millionen bedenkliche Beiträge markierten, erzeugte das nutzergesteuerte System in den USA lediglich 900 Hinweise in sechs Monaten. Koordinierten Netzwerken fehlt es zudem an direkten Sanktionen.

Also, could we stop talking about a "tobacco moment"?
Tobacco shouldn't be legal & it wouldn't be if someone tried to introduce it today as a new product.
By drawing this comparison we're essentially saying that social media shouldn't be allowed to do as much harm as they want to - but they should still be allowed to do A LOT! of harm.
You know, just like tobacco, the cause of millions of deaths every single fucking year.

Georgia police used a Flock surveillance camera to ticket a motorcyclist for holding his phone while riding, despite the company saying cameras aren't for traffic enforcement. Good Lord do I wish they'd rather headline these with something like "The fight can begin", rather than this "Welp, it's all fixed now!" framing.
The reality is there in the text, but headlines set the tone & this is one of those topics which require the proper gravitas.
Also, this is as much a problem for adults as for children & advocates should be extremely careful to make this clear or we'll get some stupid age ban quick fix.
