Marco Aurelio nunca quiso ser emperador. Quería estudiar filosofía, escribir, vivir una vida tranquila dedicada al pensamiento.
Pero cuando el emperador Antonino Pío lo adoptó y lo designó como su sucesor, Marco Aurelio entendió que el universo le había asignado una tarea.
