È ufficialmente entrata in vigore in Australia la prima legge al mondo che vieta l’uso dei social network per gli under 16 e che sembra essere destinata a diventare una sorta di esempio per il resto del mondo. Non sono le famiglie o i minori a rischiare sanzioni, ma le Big Tech.

Reasonably convincing argument here from a psychologist. He says the aim of the social media ban is not to necessarily stop everyone under 16 using social media, but to remove the environment in which kids feel obliged to use it. Interesting angle.

"A common critique of this sort of legislative move is that determined kids will find workarounds. Some will. That has always been true. But the goal here is not perfect enforcement; it is shifting the default environment so that children are not pressured into digital spaces they don’t actually want because they don’t want to be left out."

Ne parlano tutti: in Australia oltre 1 milione di ragazzi sotto i 16 anni ha perso di colpo l'accesso a Instagram, TikTok, Facebook e altre piattaforme. È il primo divieto totale al mondo, con multe fino a 32 milioni di dollari per chi non si adegua. Norvegia, Francia e Italia preparano leggi simili, resta una domanda: proteggerà i minori dai social o li spingerà verso angoli ancora più oscuri del web? Ci ho pensato su, e ve ne parlo qui.
