@bibi098 Het politieke debat is door de rechtse partijen vergaand beroofd van wetenschappelijke #feiten en verstandige #argumenten. En niet alleen in Nederland, overigens. Het is een internationaal patroon en komt waarschijnlijk vooral tot stand door de #socialmedia terreur vanuit de VS en Russland. De #neoliberalisering, de weigering om milieu- en consumenten-beschermende ethische regels te stellen aan de #economie, beschouwd als een eigen kosmos buiten ons universum, heeft dit voorbereid.

Nearly 40 years in journalism now, it happens to me, too, from time to time. Therefore, I developed nearly a "professional paranoia" to double-check even unimportant posts.
The problem is that #AI techniques (images, video, sound, mass-postings) get better and better. Often you need specialised software to debunk #fakes. @Bellingcat gives good insights how complex their work is to debunk #propaganda especially in war.

This month we look at how to use the newly created social media Fediverse site https://u3a.social.
We start with a summary of past talks on the Fediverse and real time bidding (how targetted ads work) before walking through creating and using an account. Also covered is how to find groups, friends and news sources to follow (such as users on other Fediverse sites, Bluesky and RSS). Of course we’ll have a demo.
Fediverse sites are free of ads, tracking, algorithms, big business and billionaires … they are community sites – owned and managed by the community for the community.
As always, plenty of time is reserved for discussions.
