I'm definitely changing my operating system to Linux Ubuntu. I mostly use a decent laptop (An ACER Aspire, 10th gen i3, 8 gb RAM) for my daily routine: google, mail, youtube, movies, music... it runs perfectly smooth with Windows 11, I don't need more than that, honesty. But: I know there are LOTS of apps running without knowing what they are, consuming my computer resources and constantly sending information without my permission (OK, with my permission, 'cause we all accept the conditions of Windows, if we use Windows xD ).
So, I'm finally doing something about my digital autonomy, besides leaving centralized social media. Every day a new step! Go!

Mit Looseplume gibt es einen neuen Service im Fedi, der nach eigenen Angaben aus öffentlichen Mastodon-Timelines die Threads extrahiert und zu strukturierten Berichten zusammengefasst. Das Resultat erinnert mich stark an das, was Rivva damals fĂŒr die BlogosphĂ€re getan hatte.

Thought I'd make some effort to promote my art and #Redbubble shop, so I created an Instagram account. Entered all my details, made it look pretty and then opened the app. I managed about 5 minutes before I realised my head is just not cut out for an endless stream of mindless reels. Immediately deleted my account.
Looks like I am destined for social media obscurity :)

"A small fraction of online actors now exerts outsized influence over what the public sees, believes, and argues about.
In a new short review paper, we trace how #socialmedia #influencers can turn fringe claims into viral narrativesâoften by exploiting a feedback loop between influencers, #algorithms, and crowds.
As such, the modern information environment enables a tyranny of the minority: extreme and coordinated voices dominate attention, distort perceived social norms, and create a âfunhouse mirrorâ version of public opinion that makes fringe positions look common and conflict look inevitable.
We synthesize emerging evidence that a tiny number of highly active users drives a disproportionate share of misinformation and toxicity, and explain how platform incentives reward moralized, identity-salient, and emotionally charged content.
We conclude by outlining pragmatic responsesâindividual, institutional, and policy-levelâand by highlighting how generative AI could either accelerate bespoke realities or help rebuild shared understanding, depending on how these systems are designed and governed."
