TIOBE Software CEO Paul Jansen shares the numbers for November 2025 in its programming popularity index. It seems like C# is almost caught up with Java with a less than 1% difference between the fourth and fifth positions. Python continues to stand in a very comfortable first place.

"TIOBE Index for November 2025 - Is C# going to surpass Java for the first time in history?"

The Google Summer of Code 2025 has ended for us at OpenPrinting, and it was the most successful one!

11 contributors did amazing work, and all of them successfully. Nobody failed this time.

And not only we liked the outcome, also our contributors loved working with us and most praised me and their mentors.

And we already have 17 candidates for next year ...

In this report on #programming languages, we see that #Perl and #Haskell are now somewhat peers.

Their repo counts are both decline on Github, with Perl in decline about twice as fast.

The engagement metrics for #Rust in terms of "pushes per repository" and "forks per repository" are much higher than either.

#Python, coming of age in a similar era as Perl remains one of the most active languages on Github.

I credit Python's staying power to being easy to learn and straightforward.

oh wow the #MUD-like written in #Python in 1998 still has its vintage website. it's called (sigh) POO. I played with it back in the day. I assumed I'd never find it even if it was still up, given how badly search engines work these days.

Now, who's going to update it for python3?

Pourquoi j'adore #Zim ?
