Writing some #Python code tonight and realized two things about the #C language. (Yeah, I know. But it's the way my brain works.)

Anyway:

1. I learned very early in my C journey that you could have pointers to functions, which meant functions were runtime pluggable. This one insight changed my entire thinking about code structure and how I went about designing re-usable code in *every* language I've used since.

2. I really, really wish C had closures. Really, really.

InterpN is now 100% statically-analyzable and about 30% faster by eliminating the need for recursive methods.

In addition to a nice speedup, this change shrinks the repo by about 45%, removing about 2600 lines of code!

A Software Development Life Cycle exists in nearly every software effort, whether engineers recognize it or not. Even teams that reject “formal” SDLCs still perform the same activities, deliberately or otherwise.

(More ruminations, not specific, sparked by my recently published book: tinyurl.com/HOSEWP2)
