When I built the Pixelfed frontend, I thought bootstrap was the only way and wasn't very skilled with javascript.
Fast forward to 2026 and I've shipped half a dozen SPA's across the fediverse, including https://joinloops.org, https://fedidb.com, https://fediverse.info and https://loops.video
And 3 react-native mobile apps.
Now I am building a whole new Pixelfed frontend from scratch, and I couldn't be happier.
It's about time for

Redesigning and refactoring a production website is one thing, but when it comes to open platforms that federate, with popular APIs consumed by dozens of clients and prioritizes uptime for half a million users, it can get tricky.
You know I love a good challenge, and I did this a year ago with Loops.
Now it's Pixelfeds turn.
I'm building a fresh new interface and our own API, then I'll focus on fixing federation, and then I'll redesign our mobile app.
One step at a time ✨

Still can’t post to my pixelfed.social account from my #IceCubes app. The login process passes the auth, but then just returns to the login page. Account works fine in the #Pixelfed app, and there aren’t any pending IceCubes updates, so… 🤷♂️

I have an account on Metapixl and I'm looking for some information regarding upload limits. I have a substantial library of photos that I took over the years and I can't find any information on limits to uploads on Metapixl. I don't want to overuse the server space uploading hundreds of pictures.
Anybody can point me to any info on what is acceptable on this instance?
Alternatively, good options to host photos for family to access in a gallery format?
