Okay, I knew ffmpeg was powerful but I always sort of preferred the UI tools. And yes they are good for editing multiple channels and cut videos etc. because you need the visual feedback.
But let us assume you want to re-upload and improve your 14 year old videos. You see that your career as video editor created videos that is almost 720p but with some extra rows, causing your video to look blurry. Your video file may have some error and you need to replace the audio channel. You want to transcode to h264 because you happen to have used ogv back then which crunches my vcores. So basically just some technical editing required.
Now with most UIs I remember this is sort of a pain. Best tool I remember is losslesscut, but it is just not designed for my tasks. I have Kdenlive but it is not aimed at quickly edit these tasks, it wants to use some predefined profiles and is for larger projects.
Long story short: ffmpeg on commandline just does everything precise and reliable

I wrote a block of code in SuperCollider that bubble-sorts a scrambled C major Phyrgian scale Array and sonifies the results as it is being processed. The results were surprising to say the least, especially towards the end
