I think this kind of market manipulation should be illegal again.
It might not look like it now but #Netflix is in trouble. The #YouTube model is going to eat them all eventually. One video service with everybody else's stuff. Like Amazon. Unless you somehow believe monopoly no longer makes things shittier, we need to fight for a competitive ecosystem of apps that connect us to independent #peertube and #owncast instances. Like podcasting. A real open alternative.
I may get a #peertube account somewhere just to try it out. There was some @hack42 related stuff there…

After lots of trial-and-error, giving up a while ago, and recently reattempting it, I finally got @ente running on my VPS! So now I have a way to share photos we take (on trips, etc) as albums and in a way that they're publicly available. Even better, I set up an object storage backend (like I did with @peertube) so that storage costs are pretty much as cheap as they can be (thanks Backblaze B2!).
