Colorado Senate Bill 26-051 cleared a House committee April 24 and 25. New amendments exempt open-source operating systems, applications, and code repositories from age-attestation rules. System76 founder Carl Richell, whose Pop!_OS would have been a target, confirmed the language. The exemption covers any license permitting copy, redistribute, modify. First time United States law distinguishes "code you can read" from "code that watches you".
