Werner Koch released GnuPG 2.5.19 on April 24. GnuPG signs and protects most Linux package distributions and a large share of corporate email. The release adds Kyber (the quantum-resistant key encryption NIST standardized in 2024). The 2.4 branch shipped by Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, and Fedora hits end of life in eight weeks. 14 compliant platforms taught me one rule: the "still works" component you never touched is the one that is two months from a compliance failure.
