#LinuxHelp

I have a repeated issue on Mint, LMDE, & Debian where the OS detects my printer on installation, and can print without a problem, but the printer later disappears from my Settings.

Attempting to detect it only brings up a generic CUPS option, and that doesn't print.

Installing by network address: doesn't print.

It's a Brother printer, and manual installation of their drivers: doesn't print.

Any ideas for how to even diagnose this problem?

Farmers and small villages can offer their opportunities, with requirements and a nice place to work in, a place to sleep with bird and nature sounds. Accompanied by some backend peers that help build the big(ger) picture. Wouldn’t that be a nice thing? :) cc @EUCommission

Introducing #DevBnB. Where city developers can “book” coding opportunities to go to a farm or other small village project in need of open source coding expertise to build farm solutions, federated power grids, rural traffic solutions, reverse-engineer proprietary shit. Escape the city. Build open source code. Feel nature. Experience small communities. It’s what you want. Admit it :)

It’s a weird idea, but who knows, sounds like a fun project! Wanna join? :)

The #ProtonMail "desktop app" is *exactly* like their webmail. One suspects it literally is their webmail just packaged up as an app.

So... just use a web-app, then? Seems like the way to go.

Diving a little deeper into and to see if they are suitable for my purposes 🙂

One thing I keep coming across is that everything is requiring an account, often payment. This is not limited to those two examples but systemic.

Why can we not create solutions or services that are private by design and distributed through volunteers?

If everybody gives a tiny bit, we can achieve great things together!
