The fact that Android is becoming closed source and that it will only allow installing apps from authorized developers means that it's basically just a potentially crappier iPhone. Like at this point why wouldn't I just switch? I guess they figured the promise of "extra security" entices more people to switch from iPhone than away from Android. Just a cold numbers decision made by Alphabet at the expense of AOSP.
