Zudem werden kommerzielle Softwareprodukte, Systeme, die Firmen dahinter immer wieder verkauft, es gibt m.E. also keine dauerhafte Stabilität ganz gleich ob #opensource, #foss, oder kommerzill und damit auch keine speziellen Nachteile im oss Sektor. Organisation und IT müssen lernen, flexibel mit Veränderungen umzugehen und die Architektur entsprechend "modular" halten. Aber: opensource hat den Vorteil, daß man zumindest theoretisch eine Weiterentwicklung selber übernehmen / finanzieren könnte.

Mildly annoying #GIMP thing:
I finally found an old external GIMP plugin that I liked several years ago called Halftone Lab, and it's still in SourceForge. Updated in 2013.
*Unfortunately* it's a GIMP 2.x plugin, which in itself depends on another GIMP plugin that adds .NET API bindings. So trying to get this thing to work on GIMP 3 would *probably be a toughie*.
It's kind of weird to think that, oh yeah, *just* earlier this year, you *might* have gotten this work on modern GIMP. (...probably not, practically speaking, because it depends on very old .NET stuff.) But just now, with the release of GIMP 3, it seems to have become obsolete!
I hope someone grabs this plugin and modernises it. That would be really sweet.

Das mag stimmen, allerdings habe ich in 30 Jahren auch so viel eingestellte kommerzielle Software & Systeme migrieren müssen, daß ich den Umgang damit als IT Managementprozess einstufe. Another day, another #Wayland protocol.
Still working on improving input methods. Just "finished" a feature useful especially to #CJK languages (#Chinese , #Japanese , #Korean ):
the input method intercepts some #key presses.
