I tested ReMarkable's 'cheap' Paper Pure tablet, and it hardly feels like a downgrade

The Paper Pure pairs an accessible design with modest hardware while retaining ReMarkable's niche functionality.

Four-million on, four-million off: even Fibonacci numbers
Project Euler #2 is a five-line problem with a forty-line worth of structure hiding behind it. The official answer fits in a `u32`, but the path from "loop the sequence" to "evaluate one Fibonacci number" passes through a parity argument, a linear recurrence in the even subsequence, and a closed-form summation identity — all…

10 trillion downloads are crushing open-source repositories - here's what they're doing about it

Companies are treating these repositories like content delivery networks - now the Linux Foundation and colleagues are saying enough is enough. Here's the plan.

PowerCurve 0.3.0 is out. It's a drop-in replacement for power-profiles-daemon. Same D-Bus interface, org.freedesktop.UPower.PowerProfiles. GNOME panel, KDE applet, powerprofilesctl all keep working unchanged.

What it adds on top of power-profiles-daemon:

1. Per-fan PWM curves through hwmon, coupled to the active profile. Quiet profile gets quiet fans. Performance gets aggressive ones. Per channel, per profile. Hysteresis, stall detection, NVML for NVIDIA GPU temps.

2. Built for desktops and workstations, not laptops. thinkfan, fw-fanctrl, system76-power's laptop bits all assume a laptop. Generic desktop fan control is fancontrol, a shell script with no D-Bus, no profiles, no thermal logic.

3. A process watcher. Polls /proc and flips profile when Steam, ffmpeg, blender, whatever you list shows up. Game launches, case fans ramp.

4. Safety logic that came out of fear. Holds last duty when a temp source disappears. Fans don't drop cold. Critical-temp override pins everything to max. Configs that allow zero duty above critical are rejected at load. NVML failure falls to full tilt.

Install on Arch: yay -S powercurve-git

Debian / Ubuntu / Pop: sudo apt install ./powercurve_*.deb
