Robot Operating System
Robot Operating System (ROS)는 로봇 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 오픈소스 미들웨어 프레임워크로, 하드웨어 추상화, 장치 제어, 메시지 전달, 패키지 관리 기능을 제공한다. ROS는 실시간 운영체제는 아니지만, ROS 2에서는 실시간 코드와 임베디드 하드웨어 지원을 추가하여 개선되었다. ROS는 C++, Python, Lisp 클라이언트 라이브러리를 중심으로 하며, Ubuntu Linux를 주로 지원하지만 macOS, Windows 등도 실험적으로 지원한다. 2007년 스탠포드 대학과 Willow Garage에서 시작되어, 현재는 Open Robotics가 주도하며 로봇 연구 및 상용화에 널리 활용되고 있다.
