«KI baut Open-Source-Projekte in Minuten als kommerzielle App nach:
KI stellt die Open-Source-Community vor eine grundlegende Herausforderung - Neue Werkzeuge sind inzwischen in der Lage, komplette Softwareprojekte nahezu automatisch nachzubilden. Das wirft drängende Fragen zu Urheberrecht und Fairness auf.»

Das KI Daten klaut um Faule zu "bereichern" sollte eigentlich allen mittlerweile bewusst sein.

Defense contractor RTX (formerly Raytheon) open sourced Maude-HCS, a tool built for DARPA to test and validate hidden communication networks—protocol tunneling, steganography, cloud fronting, proxying. Published under Apache 2.0 on GitHub. This helps people in warzones, journalists, and leakers validate their covert communication channels. A defense contractor open sourcing tools for secure, anonymous communications is the kind of irony the internet was built for.

Google released Gemma 4 open AI models under the Apache 2.0 license—a significant shift from the previous custom license. Apache 2.0 is one of the most permissive open source licenses, meaning genuine commercial freedom for self-hosters and developers. While competitors keep tightening their licenses, Google is making a genuine open source play in the model space.

European companies Ionos and Nextcloud forked OnlyOffice into Euro-Office for digital sovereignty—and OnlyOffice is furious. The GitHub readme claims OnlyOffice is a difficult company to collaborate with. OnlyOffices AGPL license makes forking legal but the public spat reveals the fault lines in European open source governance. When your sovereignty pitch is we forked it because the original maintainers are hard to work with, thats not sovereignty—thats community breakdown.

Cloudflare released EmDash v0.1—an open source rebuild of WordPress in TypeScript built on Astro (which Cloudflare acquired in January). MIT licensed, runs on Cloudflare Workers (serverless), aims for WordPress compatibility without PHP. WordPress powers 42.5% of all websites. An open source, MIT-licensed, serverless alternative built by Cloudflare is the most credible WordPress disruptor in years.

systemd contributor faces death threats over an optional birthDate field. No verification, no surveillance—just an empty optional database field for distros to optionally comply with age verification laws. The Linux community went from code review to doxxing and death threats in 24 hours. Open source governance requires disagreement, but the bridge from code review to death threats shouldnt exist. Toxicity is the real vulnerability.

Anthropic DMCA takedown deleted 8,100 legit GitHub repos by accident—including public Claude Code forks with community bug fixes. Tried to hit 96 specific forks, GitHub took down 8,100. Developers who had legitimate bug-fix forks found their repos gone. For a company that publishes code to encourage contributions, mass-deleting contributor repos is a bold strategy.
