A month ago I shipped a macOS dictation app built in a day. Since then: 19 releases, 70+ stars, and real users shaping the roadmap.
Lessons learned:
• The Fn key needs its own event system (Carbon won't do it)
• Sharing ML models across sandbox boundaries is tricky
• Parakeet V3 is faster than Whisper for European languages
• Ship early, iterate on real feedback

@rickf @tinker correct. There are basically 3 alternatives to MS Office in the #opensource market atm:
1. Nextcloud based: think OpenDesk, Euro-Office, the Good Cloud, office.eu, IONOS and many others. Choice of Collabora or OnlyOffice. Some with Nextcloud Talk, others like Opendesk with OpenTalk.
2. LaSuite based: the French gov suite, via Mosa.cloud, lasuite.coop, Linagora and Openburo.eu as a collective. Self built, very lean apps.
3. Alternative offering: like Proton with their own suite.

Gemeenten testen Linux-gebaseerde werkplek voor meer digitale autonomie
Vier gemeenten testen een Linux-gebaseerde werkplek om zo meer digitale autonomie te krijgen. De pilot met de MijnBureau-werkplek moet gemeenten helpen minder afhankelijk te worden van grote softwareleveranciers en meer regie te krijgen op hun digitale infrastructuur, zo laat de Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) weten. Volgens de VNG werken gemeenten steeds meer digitaal, waardoor ze vaak afhankelijk zijn van internationale leveranciers, wat risico’s met zich meebrengt voor continuïteit en dienstverlening.
De gemeenten Amsterdam, Ede, ’s-Hertogenbosch en Zaanstad testen samen met de VNG, het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en SSC-ICT nu een Linux-gebaseerde werkplek. Deze werkomgeving draait op de Digitale Autonome Werkplek Overheid (DAWO), een open source blauwdruk van SSC-ICT. MijnBureau is ontwikkeld door het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en bestaat uit onderdelen van het Franse La Suite, het Duitse OpenDesk en Nextcloud.
