Final part of my terminal text editor series is live. Part 3 covers the View layer, choosing FTXUI over ncurses, simulating a cursor in the terminal, and translating keyboard events into semantic input types.

This wraps up the wordNebula Phase 1 series. All three parts are linked together.

Four open source models exist right now that do something the previous generation struggled with. They do not just generate speech. They clone a voice from a short audio sample and produce output that is genuinely difficult to compare from the original speaker.

The gap between open source and commercial TTS has been closing for a while. These four models suggest it has effectively closed for voice cloning specifically.

Built a receipt scanner with Python OCR and it turned into a full finance toolkit.

5 modules: receipt scanning, portfolio tracking, report generation, job tracking, subscription auditing.

The OCR is about 90% accurate on real receipts. Image preprocessing (deskew, contrast, noise reduction) was the key.

Last post for today because I got #EasterEggs in the wild just screaming at me to be found.
I don't know much about #Linux, but on #CDNdid it's appropriate to highlight a Canadian version with a great Canadian name - Maple Linux. Sweet...

🦾 Aegis: Open source FPGA silicon

「 Existing open-source FPGA efforts either reverse-engineer proprietary architectures (Project IceStorm, Apicula) or build tooling around closed silicon (Yosys, nextpnr). The silicon itself has always been proprietary. Aegis starts at the other end: the fabric design is open, the toolchain is open, and the path to real silicon goes through open PDKs and shuttle services like wafer.space

It's the 1st Sunday of the month and so we celebrate #DigitalIndependanc3 Day in Canada. What have you done this past month to secure your personal data? Did you exit X or flee Facebook? Did you #DeGoogle or switch to an #OpenSource software alternative?
Tell us what you accomplished and encourage others to take action. Start small and regain control over your data a little bit at a time.
