16 years ago today, after watching a presentation on YouTube titled "Write and Submit your first Linux Kernel Patch"[1] by @gregkh, I submitted my first patch[2] to the Linux kernel. 🙂
I didn't really have much idea of what I was doing, and after submitting a few more similar patches that same year (2010), I stopped.

Prediction: AI in open source projects is going to become not only inevitable but necessary.
The reason is that the latest generation of AI appears to be very good at vulnerability identification. This unfortunately means that the tempo of the measure countermeasure race increases rapidly. As consequence, any popular open source project that isn't doing some form of automation to patch exploits will be at significant risk of being swamped by automation identifying exploits in that software.
