An updated model by #deepseek has people asking again what can they run locally in their own computers. And the answer is still: not very much. The hardware (and thus cost, power etc) requirements for these giant #llm are way beyond what typical individuals, families etc. can afford.
Which raises interesting questions: what type of #opensource natural language processing tools *can* people run locally, how well they integrate with the #linux desktop, and to what effect.

I cugini d'oltralpe hanno ordinato a tutti i ministeri di abbandonare Windows e passare a Linux. Due milioni e mezzo di postazioni, con strumenti made in France già operativi, e una roadmap vera e condivisa.
La motivazione? Beh oggi dipendere da stack interamente extra-europei è diventato un rischio strategico. Non è il mondo che vorrei vedere, ma è il mondo in cui viviamo.
E noi? Beh l'Italia avrebbe le stesse regole, l'AGID - Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale compila linee guida e fa raccomandazioni. Solo che, poi, non c'è quasi nessuno che le mette in pratica.
