I'm a little disappointed (but not at all surprised) to see that #Meta #interoperability isn't going to be with open standards but with brokered agreements with third parties. I'd love to move my #WhatsApp identity to my #Matrix homeserver and that's me (and in time, my family) off WhatsApp entirely, but still staying in the school whatsapp group or whatever.

@realitygaps I honestly gave matrix a try (self hosting) but this is ridiculous, I’m unable to enter an unencrypted chat room. This is now before and after the cloudflare downtime

The one thing that sets #matrix apart (from xmpp) is that multiple servers distribute a single chat room.
