Bei einem vereinsinternem #DIday haben wir heute beschlossen, Elements (Matrix) zumindest für die Orga Kanäle zu testen, um whatsapp kurz bis mittelfristig abzulösen. 😃
Entscheidend war der Punkt, dass man Spaces (analog zur Community bei WA) mit Unterräumen anlegen kann.
Für die Testphase werden wir erstmal einen existenten Matrix Server nutzen, wenn der Test erfolgreich ist, werden wir wohl einen eigenen Server aufsetzen.
Sehr geholfen hat mal wieder @kuketzblog und seine Messenger-Matrix.de

In my quest for a #Discord alternative for my gaming group, I'm going to toss #Matrix into the bin of "nope". It ticks most of the boxes, but holy fucking hell the constant nagging to revalidate every fucking login is not going to fly. None of my friends are going to tolerate that shit just to talk about #TTRPG scheduling, campaign planning, and general life events. Intensely user-hostile.

It should come as no surprise that Beam is based on Matrix.
France and Germany have set a good example, France has TChap, Germany uses BwMessenger and TI-Messenger, all based on Matrix.
Let's hope all other a European countries and the EU itself will follow these examples, fast...

Belgium is the next European country to take communication between public workers into its own hands. No more WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, it's Beam from now on.
*Beam has been developed by the state-backed company Belgian Secure Communications (BSC). It will eventually be used by around 750,000 public sector employees and military personnel.*

@GerhardD and btw, Delta Chat already have channels (Telegram style) where there is one admin and other people are just subscribers that can only read, not modify any state nor see the list of subscribers,
this channels are also completely p2p on top of the transport layer, end-to-end encrypted without any server dependency, so they are basically unblockable because admin can always move to another relay node, you are no where to have something like that in #matrix
