Well well well, if I didn't already have a reason to leave FB Messenger, well META just gave me another one. Seems in April they are shutting down messenger.com, which I used extensively through the browser or through one of my favourite Linux apps, Ferdium where I regroup all of my social media accounts, including Mastodon. Now with this change they are forcing us to go to FB to use Messenger, of course this way we're forced to interact with that ecosystem and be exposed to the ads, no thanks. The alternative, spend even more time on my phone, again no thanks. Guess it's time to move on and try to get my friends on Mastodon or Signal. #messenger #meta #signal #mastodon

SIx different desktop Linux Mastodon clients? OK, let's see:
- Tokodon. This is currently broken on my machine, and from a quick search I see I am not alone.
- Tusky. For Android. Not for actual (for real) Linux. For Android.
- Hummingbird. I think I'm going to actually try this one out.
- The default web client with a bunch of browser extensions. Okay. Maybe they'll fix the web client. I'll try this.
- Toot! I tried it a while ago and it was kind of unusable IIRC. I'll give it another shot.
- Fedilab. Android. Not real Linux; Android. And IIRC that one didn't work for me on Android, either. Incredibly slow load times for home, federated, etc. feeds (like... 5-30 minutes; even slower than the default web client or elk.zone)Web clients with PWA. I'm not seeing any PWA options for infosec.exchange (and I like my instance, but maybe I need to look closer.Right now it looks like... Hummingbird and maybe Toot!
Noting that elk.zone isn't listed. It's my daily driver though after a little while (as hinted above) load times become ridiculous (1 minute to indefinite/frozen). The default web client is the same. I'll try extensions and searching more to see if PWA is an option.

Hmm, little regression in #Mastodon? I've selected the Twemoji style for emoji (under Preferences), and they show up that way in toots but not in the compose-toot box.
