@effariwhy Personally, I'm not a fan of it because it breaks conversations and mentions to posts and replies still exist but the item it is responding to has disappeared...
I know a lot of people like it.
I think #Mastodon should notify every person that replied to posts and give them an easy option to also purge replies. Maybe a panel where they can see and manage all now orphaned replies
Check out @effariwhy in search and you will see the replies which are now missing context posts and are now orphaned.
But, that is my personal feeling on them.

I pushed changes to #tagspub today to use any-ascii on non-ASCII tags, to make them suitable for following from #mastodon and other ASCII-only services. I have mixed feelings about the results; they're OK but not great. I think I'm going to start sharing from Unicode account names, too, and just let them bounce for servers that don't accept Unicode account names.

So it looks like BlueSky may have blacklisted my entire BandCamp subdomain simply because I used too many hashtags when linking to one of my tracks. This is eerily similar to how a site like Instagram operates - just banning and blacklisting people for no reason. Meanwhile there's AI bros posting links to their weekly LPs with blatant spam tags and they're not blacklisted. I'm thinking BlueSky may be just as bad as the corporate platforms and I should just stick to Mastodon.

the alt-text grabbing feature on mastodon is great and all but for the love of god somebody PLEASE ban this thing from being able to use | because every time i use it i have to manually correct every other I
i don't think i've *ever* used it for anything where i actually needed the | symbol transcribed
