I can't figure out why I see so many replies to people that are not attached to any thread, so I don't know what they're talking about.

Do not feed the Troll“. Keine Reaktion auf dumme inhaltslose Kommentare! Und schon gar nicht auf politisch motivierte Propaganda (egal ob von Rechtsaußen oder Linksaußen). #meinungsfreiheit ja. #reaktionspflicht nein!

Jetzt auch auf #Mastodon:
Hier ist ein #StarterPack mit Accounts von Redakteuren & Redakteurinnen sowie vielen anderen Personen bei @heiseonline & Co. Kann man direkt mit wenigen Klicks folgen:

If the #fediverse is ever to go even partly mainstream, say 10 million active users, we will have to have a clear eyed look at what ordinary #socialmedia consumers want as an interface. Then either alter one of the #platforms, mostly likely #Mastodon, to meet those expectations, or build a new #ActivityPub platform from scratch that will. Otherwise admit to ourselves we just wanna be #niche.
#Bluesky is tearing it up folks! It's pulling in ...
In case you missed it, I have a website as well which lists interesting Fediverse accounts to follow organised into topics:
To follow an account in the directory, copy-paste its address into your search box on Mastodon etc, this will bring up its profile where you can click "follow".
To find out more about an account in the directory, just click on its address and this will open its page on its home server.
Oh right, I can do quote posts on here!*
Interesting draft proposal and discussion on this thread. I do like the idea of coordinating some of the existing Mastodon forks into a common starting point -- whether that becomes a new hard or soft upstream, or a 15th standard. I'll need to read through more of this and think about it.
I still think interoperability between different Fediverse platforms for different use cases and so forth is even more important, but that's something that can be done with or without a hard fork, so it's effectively a separate discussion.

Then I started using #Mastodon on a daily basis. It was (and still is) slower, and the lack of algorithm does mean I have to proactively follow more people and search a bit for content.
I migrated to #Mastodon some months ago, and I deleted my #Twitter account. Actually, I deactivated it, then waited the mandatory 30 days, then went back and re-registered it, then froze it (no avatar, changed my display name to my #Mastodon account, locked it, followed nobody) - just so that someone doesn't steal it, as I had some thousands of followers and didn't wanna risk to get them swindled by haters or something. I did have plenty of those and who's to stop them from impersonating me?
