@bookandswordblog This was fascinating to me because I’ve read of manuscript research but never of this type of provenance. Now if this applied to mineral specimens, ownership all the way from the mine to the present owner is important if you want to track down more details that may be important discoveries. Perhaps it reveals changes over time.
I read your article with great interest. I went off on a tangent suggested by your mention of cargo cult science. I remember it long ago in a sociology class. But the linked essay by #Feynman is a gem. I saved his explanation of why it’s important to learn what doesn’t work, especially in pop science. Especially in the growing numbers of Americans who are trusting in junk holistic or deceptive science like fake Covid cures or prevention. This example from your post and now mine show some of the beauty of this social media/network through the Fediverse and #Mastodon to lead on and on to fascinating new ideas.
