And on the current Mastodon-edge implementaiton of QT (which we have in vmst.io) you can even decide if you want your toot to be used to change subject or not. The current options of who can QT your toots are
- anyyone
- followers only
- just me
So even more freedom to control the reach of YOUR words. I just wonder what else needs to be polished before this reaches release Mastodon version.
It'll make things so much easier.

Also think about reply-guys kind of response changing subject "why not use X,Y,Z?".
They are subject-changing toots and they are rarely directed at the poster. It's more like a new thread of someone reading the toot and wondering to themselves and THEIR peers "why not use X,Y,Z" using as context the original toot.
Once quote toots exist, this branch of reply-guyism vanishes with it. There won't be no excuse to not type that subject-changing question as a quote toot instead of a reply.
Without QT, you're forcing them to be replies. Feeding reply-guyism. See the problem?

This thread is the perfect example of why Quote Toots are so sorely needed.
You're forcing people to hit reply when they want to change the subject but still connect to the original toot. It makes the parent toot poster confused. A quote toot, makes clearer the relationship between the toot and the quoted one: I want to talk about THIS toot but from a different perspective / conversation.

Come on guys. This #Mastodon release is garbage. It has #LibreWolf taking up 80% of the CPU. Refreshing this tab takes 2 minutes. Typing is unresponsive. Toots don't load. It doesn't work.
