@rpimag Competitions are great, but I resent the fact that it is actually an attempt to get people to join X, Facebook, Mastodon (which here everyone already is) and Threads.
In a world where people are too plugged in, this is not a healthy competition. I refuse to join those other sites, so I'm always excluded from entering.
Why be their advertisers? You have a great product that should not rely on everyone seeing your messages in 4 or 5 different places!
I am on two different sites, but why should I force myself to see your posts on both of them (let alone all the ones required for contest entry)?

I should say, to another #mastodon #instance. I'm not talking about rehosting a server, but rather moving a personal account to another mastodon provider. I'm concerned that it may be a destructive act, that failure during the transfer may result in an incomplete or unusable account at both ends.
(And before anyone responds "failure's not a concern, I moved to a new instance without an issue": not from THIS instance you didn't.)

One would hope that it would do the move first, then deactivate and redirect the account only when the move completed and passed all checks. But is that actually the case?

One of the ways I find cool folks to follow is by looking through other people's follows. But #Mastodon seems to only show you a small subset (or more often, none) even when it says the user has tons of follows. I'm assuming this is some oddity of #federation but idk. Why even show follows/followers if it doesn't function? Am I using this wrong?
