You know, prior to Quoted Posts came into existence on the Internet, we had this thing where you could simply insert the URL of a post and the preview would be retrieved if the remote server supported it.
Trying to add "controls" to content that is inherently public seems like a futile attempt to polish a turd. #Mastodon

Ok so one gripe I have about #filters and filter groups on #Mastodon: I can filter posts on the Mastodon web app but not on clients like Pachli and Moshidon. I actually never use the filter post mechanism as most often when I encounter a sensitive post I end up muting the user instead as I believe that if users post (repeated) unmarked sensitive content (even if the user posting doesn't find a personal issue with it), the users themselves and all of their posts should be hidden from my sight indefinitely. I only hold that belief for a limited range of specific users (no discrimination intended) so I'm not mute/block crazy (as some of you might think) either.
Furthermore when I filter a post for it to be hidden with a warning or hidden completely, I think I should not be seeing people drop links to the post in question in their respective posts either, whether it's a link to the original post that was originally posted on a specific instance, or a link to the post as seen and federated on another instance. Same thing for when I come across people mentioning users from domains I muted, when I come across people mentioning users I blocked, and when I come across people dropping links to domains my instance has suspended.
Of course that could just be solved by putting the names of blocked users, domains, etc. under a filter where any keywords affiliated with them are hidden completely, but I still see an issue with the whole thing regardless.
