Unfortunately and sadly, I’m going to have to need or use #Mastodon account / #Fediverse to promote my business—if one day in the future I decide to start a tiny small business of my own. I don’t use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, or anything like that any longer.
Hopefully I won’t get yell at too loudly when that time comes 🤞

Ethik in KI bedeutet nicht: einmal Checkbox ankreuzen. Es bedeutet: unbequeme Fragen stellen, *bevor* man deployed.

Just finished upgrading my Mastodon instance to 4.5.8 from 4.5.5. It went pretty well, but I had to shut down nginx and mastodon services for the upgrade process to complete successfully. I think the system ran out of memory during asset precompile, but I'm not certain. I'll have to monitor that next time.

One annoying thing about moving to the fediverse that I hadn't really considered is the fragmentation of instances. As I have been trying to find the right instance, I found one that I really liked. Until I realized my favorite app (elk) wouldn't work.
Which lead me to find out the instance was waaaaay out of date (4.3.x) which also meant it as missing some of the newer features like quotes. Not trying to throw shade on anyone, and won't mention the server for that reason, but cmon man.
Defcon ftw.
