I don't like the new #mastodon offering Quote toot as opposed to simply boosting.
It breaks the nice human algorithm we used to have here.
Incentives are what makes behaviour, not the the other way around.

Für #Mastodon gibt es ja jetzt die zusätzliche Zitier-Option.
Will ich nun einen Post teilen, dann klicke ich auf das #Teilen-Symbol, worauf nachgefragt wird, ob ich Teilen oder Zitieren will. Klicke ich auf Teilen, werde ich nomals mit einer größeren Einblendung gefragt, ob ich teilen will, was ich dann erneut anklicken muß, damit ich teilen kann.
Also 3 mal anklicken, um 1 mal etwas zu teilen. Ich frage mich, ob man das nicht anders lösen könnte, mit weniger Klickerei.
Eine Idee dazu: ich würde nie die Zitier-Funktion wählen und wenn man das schon in den Einstellungen festlegen könnte, hätte ich den vorherigen Zustand zurück.

Me on #Mastodon.
It feels good that there is a public, non-toxic and non-commercial online space left. I guess it's also thanks to the good work the mods are doing around here. I really like using Mastodon.
I recently deleted an X account I still used to follow a few accounts - and be noisy against #chatcontrol.. But I didn't feel good about it, as I do not want to support what the man-child does in any form. In the end, I prefer to miss out on some interesting posts and be at peace with my conscience (I might make an exception, if it becomes necessary to fight ChatControl again).
I've been boycotting anything Meta for years and never was on LI, even if I lost touch with some friends. On the other hand, the peace of mind you get from fewer notifications, noise, etc is priceless. I wouldn't want to go back for anything.
So there's no reason for me to not do the same with X.
On a similiar topic, I read that the founder of #Wikipedia is playing around with a new social media project called #truscafe: https://www.trustcafe.io/en/guide
In regard to so many worrying trends, I strongly believe that (any) change will only come from the ground up - there's nothing to expect from anyone or anything at the top. And change always comes with a personal cost. Thanks to its federated, decentralized structure, Mastodon has everything needed to continue growing steadily and naturally. I’d bet on it
