Sesuai perkiraan, instance #mastodon ini memakai penyimpanan media #s3 rata-rata sekitar 200GB. Dan 200GB itu sebagian besar adalah cache remote media, karena mastodon secara otomatis men-cache remote media ke lokal.
Catatan:
- retensi media cache 15 hari
- terhubung dengan relay-relay
- federation dengan sekitar 5800 instances

Today's #FreeSoftwareAdvent is perhaps a very obvious one: Mastodon, the microblogging server which forms my only social networking presence.
I've used Mastodon for a reasonably long time - this account is coming up 8 years old - and I run my own instance using the glitch-soc fork (https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/).

If you want your own instance but don't want to host it, a few places offer managed hosting.
