Hello Mastodon. Question about quote post setting. Initially I set up my account to only allow boosting. But a follower of mine asked if he could quote post one of the posts I made. So, I decided to allow followers to quote post, and I made this change in my user preferences. However, it still won't allow this follower of mine to quote post the one post he originally asked about.
So, does anyone know why this is the case? Does changing the setting only affect posts that are made after the setting change?

As a new #mastodon instance owner I have come to the following conclusion: don't use relays to keep your timeline alive, follow @catsalad instead to get a nicely hand picked and even cozy timeline for ya that is relevant no matter if you're an IT person or cat lover.

Mastodon serves URLs as 23 characters. If its 47 characters long its 23 characters, if its 22 characters,its 23 characyets, if it's a shortened URL of 13 characters, its 23 characters on Mastodon.
The only use of URL shortness is to fool clickers about the destination.

I see sfba.social and norcal.social but I’m thinking a unified California server would be cool! Or at the very least, a SoCal server should exist…
