So, I've been avoiding #Linkedin for about two weeks now, like: no posts, as few interactions as possible. I used to check it 2-3 times a day, now I am closer to 2-3 times a week.
The level of attention-whoring by the algorithm is impressive. I never had (allegedly) so many post views, profile engagements and notifications in years as in the past two weeks.
Almost all completely meaningless (say 1 interesting per day, maybe). I kinda hope it keeps burning CPU-cycles trying to have me back

Aber wenn du mal sagst, ‚Moin, ich kann heut nich, mein Kopf spinnt‘, dann gucken sie dich an, als hättest du ’nen Syntaxfehler in der ersten Zeile.

This #Linkedin article is supportive of whatever it is that Miscrosot is trying to do by introducing what I presume is an LLM based GenAI to spreadsheets.
But statments like “The future of spreadsheets isn't about replacing traditional formulas—it's about augmenting them with intelligence for tasks that require understanding, not just calculation.” Tells you all you need to know about the technology.
My current understanding is that an #LLM #GenAI does not ‘understand’ anything. Furthermore, these #GTP ‘chatbots’ also inherit inaccuracies and biases present in the data they are trained on. GenAI #marketing speak likes to ‘humanise’ what is simply a ‘regurgitation’ engine which comes up with is more or less the most appropriate answer to a given question. This is not a ‘pattern recognition’ engine trained on a set(s) of carefully selected data and tested to consistently provide a diagnostic or a graph matching those of experts in the given field. #GenAI is not a data analysis engines a la #Palentir.
