now that the steam page is up, I started my BIG feature list for Unfair Dungeon. First is to try allowing the player to backtrack - it saves a step but breaks the combo. #GameDev #IndieDev #GodotEngine #Godot #Fliplike #Steam #Prototyping https://store.steampowered.com/app/4112820/Unfair_Dungeon/

Just wrapped up a quick Godot plugin experiment with Jakub.
It didn’t turn out perfect, but we learned a lot about Godot addons and GDExtension.
We wrote a short post about our fail and a little win:

btw using #godot 4.5 (non-mono) and #rust 90.0 on #nixos recently has been a pretty good experience so far.
I'm using an old Thinkpad to work on my hobbies, so fast iteration time when developing something is an important aspect to me (I easily lose focus).
I offload a ton of individual node configurations and property settings to the game editor and only reserve the game logic control code as Rust components, which turns out to be minimal.
Keeping a large chunk of the game objects editing on the editor side prevents me from waiting for long rustc's compilation time, too.
This means, I could enjoy both interactive nature of Godot editor and Rust's type-safety as much as I can

anyways, I'm going to explore these two a bit more

This paradoxical and ongoing conflict between the excitement of all the upcoming content I want to bring to life and the exhaustion and lack of motivation is complicated...

You know what is a problem I often have with the glb or #blender importer in #godot?
Godot imports them as PackedScene because they may contain meshes, animations, cameras, lights, and a whole bunch of stuff, but often I only need to import a single mesh.
The solution? 🧵1/3

Bit more work. You can now make contracts and add crew/talent people to shows.
Snapping together the pieces half an hour per day, hah.

Do I dare submit this abomination? I think it still needs some features. Absolutely needs blocklists. Custom themes (why, #Godot why do you have to make that so damned complicated?) and maybe an actual database. It's currently just throwing everything into a dictionary and that's probably a performance bottleneck.
It definitely needs a cute anime girl mascot just to annoy them.
I got nerd sniped on The Orange Site a weekish ago and decided to dust off this abandoned attempt I made at a HN client in #Godot that uses Trees and TreeViews.
It looks like shit because theming is a whole can of worms I don't want to open right now, but it's designed to look and act like a news client.
It's slow because the #HackerNews API requires a separate HTTP request for every item and I code on a potato. But it essentially works.
