After I hid the cake, I sat at one of the tables that were reserved for us at the restaurant.
I sat across the table from @dansup
Except I didn't recognize that it @dansup 🙂
The thing is — @dansup was wearing a hat. And, I'm used to his classic Fediverse photos without a hat. (With the window's peak hair style.)
I eventually realized it was @dansup 🙂

I arrived late at the (pre-FediCon) dinner because I went and got a cake for @deadsuperhero surprise birthday party.
Luckily, @deadsuperhero hadn't arrived yet, and was later than I was (so he didn't see the cake, and the surprise wasn't spoiled).

The public start of FediCon 2025 was on Friday August 1st. But, some of us got together the day before — on Thursday July 31st.
It was @evan 's idea — to have a speaker's dinner the night before.
That night also ended up being a surprise birthday party for @deadsuperhero 🙂 (It was his birthday anniversary.)

BTW, Iwant to say that @deadsuperhero has been helping with the FediCon 2025 videos, too.
(It isn't just me working on them.)
He has been dealing with adding caption text. As well as, creating the poster "thumbnail" images.
Which helps a lot.

[MOJE 1. URODZINY NA MASTODONIE]
Właśnie sobie uświadomiłem, że w niedzielę minął rok odkąd dołączyłem do instancji pol.social i na poważnie zacząłem korzystać z #fediverse. Wcześniej miałem profil na mastodon.social, ale krótko i nie korzystałem z niego zbyt aktywnie. Posłużył mi jako konto zwiadowcze do powolnego eksplorowania tego świata.
Po odkryciu pol.social i założeniu tu konta sytuacja się zmieniła. Najbardziej uderzyło mnie to, jak bardzo otwarta na dyskusję jest społeczność tutaj. Nie znam żadnego innego medium społecznościowego, w którym właściwie żadna wiadomość nie pozostawałaby bez odpowiedzi. Czasami były to wygłupy lub pomoc w rozwiązaniu problemu, innym razem konstruktywne dyskusje na argumenty (z którymi nie zawsze się zgadzałem, ale szanowałem je i kilka razy otworzyły mi głowę).
Ze wszystkimi tego typu rozmowami się spotkałem i doświadczyłem ich także pod swoimi wpisami, za co bardzo wam dziękuję.
Przez ten rok wziąłem tu udział chyba w większej liczbie rozmów niż przez kilkanaście lat na Twitterze.
To jest niesamowite, jak mała społeczność potrafi być silna swoim zaangażowaniem i otwartością w stosunku do innych użytkowników - całkowicie jej nieznanych.
Ja właśnie taką osobą byłem tworząc konto na pol.social. Nie znałem tu nikogo. Z osób, które są obecne w fediverse znałem dosłownie kilka. Wyłącznie z ich aktywności w sieci. Żadnej osobiście. Zaczynałem całkowicie od zera nie wiedząc, czego mógłbym oczekiwać, ani czego się spodziewać.
Dzisiaj Mastodon to mój najważniejszy serwis społecznościowy. Pokazał mi, że lepszy Internet nadal istnieje, tylko przez lata był nieco schowany (gdzie, u licha, wyście się podziewali przed erą Mastodona?). Cieszę się, że tu trafiłem i poznałem was wszystkich.
Dziękuję za to, że tu się rozmawia, a nie obrzuca gównem i topi w szambie. Dzięki, że nie zalewacie tego miejsca niepotrzebnie generowanymi przez AI grafikami i shitcontentem, który zalewa Internet.
Fajnie tu być.

Hey #fediverse, this time I'm taking it serious. With the release of V6 of #Ghost that comes with federation and almost a year of following @elena journey in here I think I want to dip my toes into this awesome community in #selfhosting and #tech . What would be a good starting point to hosting an account for the fediverse? Is #gotosocial still the best way to do it? I have a self-hosted blog with Ghost already and a couple fo available domains. Thanks for any tips!
