I guess followers on the Fediverse are listed in reverse order by time. This morning I scrolled to the bottom of my followers list and clicked on the oldest 150 of them to see what they have been tooting in case I overlooked them. This is what I found, which probably will not surprise anyone:
1. More than 90% are inactive profiles with toots being years old, or empty feeds that may result from a setting for older toots to expire.
2. Some profiles are defunct profiles on old instances that have been abandoned and replaced by new active profiles.
3. Some profiles contain new toots I missed, perhaps because they contain no hashtags.
I think many members lose interest for various reasons, including if they do not get much interaction from others—this surely also happens on other social media platforms. What to do, if anything? Guapo, my dog, is meanwhile dreaming and making muffled barking sounds in his sleep.

@HansLWernitz@troet.cafe @ErikUden@troet.cafe Ich denke, die Fronten sind zu verhärtet. Ich hatte vor einiger Zeit schon, nachdem mehrere meiner Beiträge gelöscht wurden aus diversen "Gründen", ein Gespräch angeboten. Leider ohne Erfolg.
Ärgerlich ist nur, dass der Account mit über 1.000 Followern nun weg ist. Ich habe mir den Account über Jahre hinweg aufgebaut und er hat sogar einen Umzug von mastodon.social hin zu troet.cafe gut überstanden.
Dort bin ich weg, weil der Server willkürlich Beiträge löscht ohne Angabe von Gründen. U. a. solche über Gaza, welche ggf. nicht der Meinung der Betreiber entsprechen. Kontaktversuche blieben erfolglos.
Das ist übrigens ein Muster im #fediverse und es zeigt, dass die Betreiber schlussendlich mit dem Betrieb eines sozialen Netzwerks überfordert sind. Vor allem, was die Aufgaben und die Verantwortungen angeht, so habe ich den Eindruck.
Klar kann man kommerzielle soziale Netze verteufeln. Gründe gibt es genug dafür. Aber andererseits haben sie eben eine klare Unternehmensstruktur und -abläufe. Und es sind juristische Personen vor dem Recht. Das hat dann manchmal auch Vorteile, wenn man sein Recht einfordern möchte oder muss ...
