I just watched a youtube video by Taylor Lorenz and some dude about how "nobody's posting anymore" and it was cringeworthy. It's how about social media is just professional influencers, "hyper-curated", with slop and ads ruining things. Nobody's doing casual posting anymore.
It's almost comical how they suggest newsletters and substack as alternatives (or "do your own blog") when the #Fediverse is right here. People doing the casual stuff, the healthier kind of posting. 1/x

Why do I love the Fediverse? Because it celebrates diversity. The very core of it is fostering, encouraging and building diversity.
And if there is anything we need in this day and age, it's diversity. Diversity in opinions, diversity in choice, diversity in people.
Each and everyone of us choosing to stick around, remain here is actively participating in a more inclusive, open and accepting society.

Alt text is to benefit blind people, right?
How much are blind people are benefitting from alt text, compared to AI training datasets?
Have we recapchaing for the benefit of AI all this time, and being told it's to help the disabled?
Like seriously, blind people could just ignore posts with images in them.

Yes, I am aware of the report and the user has already been contacted. It’s not always possible to respond immediately – not everyone can just sit down at the computer right away. Some of the reports were handled in the morning, and I will finish the rest after returning home.I take moderation seriously, but running the instance is a volunteer activity that I do in my free time. If any further issues come up, please feel free to reach out – I always review reports as soon as I can.
I don’t understand why you immediately issue a fediblock. Is it really the case that if something isn’t resolved within five minutes, the whole instance gets blocked? I honestly don’t get it.
And honestly - even I do not get what's the problem. Dude acted like idiot, was notified, moderated and makes no problems anymore.
There won't be much #fediverse if people would block each others instances after one rule-violation 😀
