Suppose the Fediverse is a territory we're exploring.
Suppose some of us wanderers are building things on such territory. And since most of them are digital, it's hard to tell where the symbolic starts and the literal blends —like it being a decentralized social network, for example.
And, despite our best intentions, borders begin to spread across these new territories, sometimes like fog, mildly blurring the landscape on the good days and thickening our chosen blindness on the hard days. But some other times, borders resemble earthquakes more as disastrous reminders that the ground is always cracking, bottoms are built instead of given, and we will not last forever.
Suppose some others, instead of building, just keep walking around, messing around.
Naturally, tension between wanderers and builders begins to arise. Opposing views on spending our time and using space, allegedly, cannot coexist. But they have for thousands of years, Francesco Careri reminds us in his book: Walkscapes: Walking as an Aesthetic Practice.
Suppose the Fediverse is a nomadic city living across stationary cities —real and fictional—, feeding on its scraps and lost futures while offering, in exchange, a new form to inhabit life, work, relationships and the longest fiction of oneself flickering into a myriad on stories taking place.
