The nicest thing with a non-algorithmic timeline is: it has an end.
No doom scrolling by default. You have to actually go to the local or global feed to do that, and without algorithm this is much more boring.

Ich habe ja eine Theorie. Eine Theorie zu einem Phänomen, das vielleicht gar kein Phänomen ist, sondern einfach nur meine persönliche Einbildung.
Hier das Phänomen: Wir haben immer wieder prominente Accounts, die von den großen kommerziellen Plattformen rübermachen ins #Fediverse. Diese beklagen sich dann hier darüber, wie wenig willkommen man im Fediverse sei (sie meinen damit sich selbst) und wie viele besserwisserische Leute einen rumnerven.
Nun meine Theorie: Diese prominenten Accounts mit ihrer großen Follower-Zahl sind es medientheoretisch gewohnt, zu senden. Sie kommen von den kommerziellen Plattformen, auf denen sich die Kommunikation schon seit längerer Zeit zu einem solchen klassischen Sendermodell entwickelt hat. Diese Accounts treffen nun auf Bewohner:innen, für die das Fediverse der Ort der gegenseitigen, der 1:1-Kommunikation ist. Und die natürlich auch gerne und selbstbewusst Aussagen widersprechen, denen sie nicht zustimmen.
Was haltet ihr davon? Seht ihr überhaupt das Phänomen, das ich beschrieben habe?

@MeierSchulze: Mir ist neulich aufgefallen, daß ich schon gar nicht mehr weiß, wem ich früher so auf TwiX gefolgt bin (ok, mit ein paar Ausnahmen von real-life Bekannten und Freunden) und ob die Leute jetzt auch hier sind. Hier im #Fediverse geht soviel über Tags, dass ich manchmal mit Freude die Postings einzelner Personen lese und erst nach Montagen äh Monaten merke, daß ich ihnen gar nicht folge — @SarahEx war neulich so ein Fall. (Und dazu braucht's kein Algorithmus, der das für mich macht!)

Can someone recommend a #PeerTube platform for stable and long term-ish hosting? I started a vimeo account at https://vimeo.com/user125809554 a few years ago with the intent of sharing #statistics and #psych lectures and presentations of research papers, but it has turned out to be 90% #mtb #trailbiking videos. 🤷♂️ Anyway, vimeo seemed like a better (non-google) option than the "default" youtube at the time, but I want to transition more and more of my stuff to the #fediverse . I pay vimeo now, so I am willing to pay a peertube platform as well, of course. Preferably #European or even #norwegian, if possible.
