So I previously allowed any hashtag to trend on my instance when I started this instance in october, not really thinking about the implications there. I've long since turned that off, after seeing some truly vile shit from the worse parts of the fediverse.
If you have hashtags allowed to trend by default, please consider going through them to look for slurs. I have since also gone through looking for hashtags in the "pending review" section for things like the n word, homophobic slurs, transphobic slurs, etc. It looks like trolls also often use fedicum, fedipenis, and mastobating if you want to find additional instances that need to be pruned.

@rotbrain I know this is an old fediblock post, but popping in to note again that the whole instance should be blocked given that they had an account on there called @/fediblockfedicum/@/mstdn.ro which just monitored the fediblock hashtag to they could harrass people. They came on a recent fediblock post I did, but then the account disappeared before I could do anything about it. (I reported it, but I wasn't at a computer, so I couldn't suspend it, but now that I am at a computer, the user is gone entirely, and not even in that "suspened by moderators" sort of way)

I would even say extend that to a block for the whole instance. The instance administrator applies a "no gendering" patch to Mastodon's German language patch, and complains that people "keep reporting with political motivations"
In Germany, we have started removing the gendering of words by combining the masc/fem versions with a star as a sort of "wildcard" like this:

seeing someone complain about this is a red flag around here.
They also made posts about blocking a bunch of .lgbt domains.
