QUESTION
Did Irene Weiss (first screenshot & https://mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseum/115110271659180777) REALLY exist? How do we know for sure?
OBSERVATIONS (just a conspiracy theory?)
🔸 Holocaust-victim spams with adorable photos (instead of prisoners shown on mugshots) INDEED entice a lot more boosts. This is EXACTLY why Auschwitz uses them (increasingly?) often. Many of the victims depicted in huge "cute" photos are neither found in the Yad Vashem (Jews only) nor in the Auschwitz online database.
🔸 The Auschwitz memorial THEMSELVE erodes history by making more info on victims increasingly hard to find using internet search engines and worse: by making lots of dehumanizing blunders, such as swapping photos - while they NEVER correct their mistakes (3 examples of many: https://mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseum/113881802587314353, https://mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseum/114951665747997313 and possibly worse: https://mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseum/115055556041096770).
🔸 The "problem" is definitely not that fake images violate "the copyright" of Auschwitz, as they themselves copy and republish photographs from all over the internet - apparently without permission.
🔸 Irene Weiss is easily confused with another "Irene Weiss" (Irene Fogel Weiss) who survived WWII (found a lot on the internet). Therefore, broadcasting her name may make REALLY interested people Google her name, find the other Irene Weiss and read about her, or watch her video's (there's nothing wrong about that, I definitely do NOT object sincere remembrance).
🔸 Irene's bike (see screenshot) is hard to drive on bumpy roads (and impossible to ride without sidewheels) - because the pedal is too close to the ground. If this is an authentic photo then her father was an idiot to buy such a bike.
🔸 The Irene Weiss shown below is not found in https://victims.auschwitz.org/victims?pattern=Irene+Weiss.
🔸 Extremely little data can be found about Irene Weiss (and her mother Elly Weiss aka Elly Jekel Weiss), but Irene is found in https://collections.yadvashem.org/en/names/14032952 and her mother in https://collections.yadvashem.org/en/names/13551064, but Elly is not found in https://victims.auschwitz.org/victims?pattern=Elly+Weiss.
🔸 It seems convenient that her mother was born on Aug 30 (see the text in the X screenshot). Will we see Elly again today on Mastodon?
🔸 Which came first; Irene's colour photo perhaps? See https://www.weremember.com/irene-weiss/5a8q/memories screenshot, the photo is also in https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/215141493/irene-weiss (added by "Lydia" who added 27808 memorials: https://www.findagrave.com/user/profile/48710393).
🔸 It seems plausible that Irene and her mother were transported from Belgium to Auschwitz. But that does not prove that it is here photograph.
🔸 If her father wanted them to be remembered (see the testimony in https://collections.yadvashem.org/en/names/14032952), why is there no wrtite-up of some additional details? What is the point of remembrance, apart from some sort of beauty contest, of just a single photo plus date and place of birth and death? Why would virtual "could have been" WWII victims pose a problem if it makes people remember the WWII atrocities, REALLY leading to "Never again" - not limited to JEWS?
🔸 Her father (apparently a WWII survivor) claims that Irene and her mother were murdered in a gas chamber on Aug 3, 1944: how does he know? Also see his testimony for his former wife Elly in https://collections.yadvashem.org/en/names/13551064. I can find very little info about Karl H. Weiss and/or Charles H. Willis on the internet.
🔸 I would fully understand if Irene's father still hates Germans. So why are these testimonies written in German (perhaps this is some kind of revenge)? Maybe they should add Arabic text to make Palestinians understand why they have to get lost?
🔸 I do also fully understand why an increasing number of Arabs, and even (formerly brainwashed) "civilised" western people, hates Israeli's mote every day. I sincerely hope this is not going to end with "From the river to the sea" - one of the objctives of the YESHA council (YESHA = Judea, Samaria and Gaza), from https://myesha.org.il/?CategoryID=419: "To safeguard Israel's strategic expanses–between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea".

J'ai parlé il y a quelque temps d'une #asso à laquelle j'adhère et qui ne communique les trucs importants que sur le groupe #facebook. Et bien ça bouge lentement mais dans le bon sens. J'ai pu leur faire une présentation de l'outil de forum #discourse et ils sont OK de basculer sur ça (et en passant, de payer ce qu'il faut pour que ça fonctionne).
Je ne partais pas gagnant (changer les habitudes, tout ça...) mais au final, je suis assez surpris de l'accueil positif.

Degenen die namens het Auschwitz-museum spammen, gebruiken voor zover ik gezien heb (alle foto's in de afgelopen 12 maanden of meer) geen AI. Maar zij roven veel foto's, vooral de "menselijke" van met name Joodse mensen, wel overal vandaan - zonder toestemming. En "Facebooken" hen op internet - iets dat *IK* beslist niet zou willen als ik oorlogsslachtoffer zou worden.
