Yay, there might be some action on the frustrating, faceless robots of Meta. I thought my case was rare but it seems there are many others hacked out of facebook with no path to reclaim their account. It can have quite a big effect on people like Alistair Hart, quoted in this story, who used FB in his business. I lost easy contact with my extended family and many of my 350+ FB friends. When in Thailand a couple of years ago, FB and Messenger were the only reliable means I had to contact home. I have been locked out of the 'public square' including my excellent local community pages through which I could alert people to a local problem or just source a reliable tradie. Also Marketplace worked well for me with its local focus. I was part of an organised FB group countering troll-like climate denialism on public pages. Ad-free Mastodon is great but it does not have the 'network effect' gained by FB's sheer global numbers. I will be contacting the Telecommunications Ombudsman and my local MP (again!). #facebook #Meta #hackers
